The design and quality of office space can have a huge impact on how people feel, behave and perform at work. Here at The Blade, we made a conscious decision to ensure that our office space provides an efficient and effective workspace – with lots of extras too!
Office space – all of our office spaces have been designed with an open plan layout to encourage teamwork and creativity. These spaces create the opportunity for flexible layouts to allow all occupiers to arrange their offices for brainstorming, projects, independent working and focused tasks. The Blade has also been designed with top to bottom glass walls creating light and bright spaces, and stunning views across Reading and the Thames Valley. These inspiring views and enormous amount of natural light improve mood, reduce fatigue and boost alertness.
Reception space – as we’ve shared before we’ve spent a lot of time making sure everyone’s first impression of The Blade is a positive one! Our large Reception offers comfy sofas, collaborative spaces, an iPad coffee machine, plenty of plants and a curated playlist of music – all great for team meets and boosting creativity. We also regularly invite local businesses to use our Reception for pop-ups ensuring that occupiers can find out more about what the local community has to offer – we’ve hosted local bakers, crafts, art competitions, hotels, restaurants and wine bars!
Outside space – finding a peaceful spot outdoors can be tricky in an urban environment. But with Abbey Mill Arch just outside our doors, cradling a small brook, and easy access to Forbury Gardens, those working at The Blade have the chance to find a welcoming space just outside the front door. With raised beds, trees, and sections of the historic town walls, these areas offer a calm, welcoming spot to pause, enjoy lunch, or take a moment away with colleagues, or alone.
Location – The Blade is perfectly positioned in Reading town centre with The Oracle right on the doorstep offering high-street shops and amenities, including a cinema as well as music, arts and sports facilities. This means managing ‘life admin’ is that much simpler for teams – allowing errands to be simply managed during breaks from work. Social events can also be easily planned with plenty of restaurants and bars offering a number of venues for teams to mingle after work or during breaks.
Health and wellbeing – we appreciate the importance that moving and breaking away from tasks can have on motivation and mental health. So we offer free bike hire, complimentary monthly sound baths for all occupiers and free weekly ‘Yoga in the sky’ classes so that teams can spend time on their wellbeing. We’ve also designed our own picnic rugs to encourage teams to get out in the green spaces around Reading for ad-hoc meets or lunches – just grab one and go!
