As working patterns changed following the pandemic, the team at Blue Array had the opportunity to review the need for their leased office space at another Reading location. The flexibility and convenience offered by The Blade proved a compelling offer, and Blue Array moved into serviced space on the third floor in 2022.

Simon Schnieders, Founder of Blue Array explains the appeal of The Blade: “Over the years we’ve worked in a number of environments involving co-working, serviced space and leased offices. I used to judge the success of the business on the number of desks and people in one place, but of course the last few years have seen a real shift in the way we all operate. Moving into The Blade was so right for us – it really is the perfect location, and we’re happy to be in such a light and inspiring environment, surrounded by bars and restaurants, with quick and easy connections into London.”

The shared areas promote a strong business community

Since forming in 2015 Blue Array has carved out an impressive spot in the SEO field, with a commitment towards educating and elevating the sector. As an award winning consulgency® (a self-styled term they’ve adopted created as a hybrid of consultancy and agency) the team has been recognised with accolades including Best Large SEO Agency and 100 Best Places to Work. Today, the company is a true industry educator with both an Amazon bestselling book and a learning programme which has seen 15,000 students complete technical courses and certification through the Blue Array academy.

Simon explains how important The Blade is to the company’s ethos: “We enjoy being an active part of the communities we operate in. The nature of the space at The Blade means those shared areas really do promote a strong business community with lots of buzz. There’s always the opportunity to find out more about other businesses who are here and talk about what they do and their successes and challenges.”

Reading as a UK hub

The Blade’s credentials have also been of benefit to Blue Array. With a BCorp accreditation secured in 2022 Blue Array now has a duty to ensure its business practices are a force for good. The Blade’s eco credentials were unrivalled, helping ensure a synergy between Blue Array’s commitments and the space the team works in.

Connectivity is also a key requirement and the building’s location has proved especially useful. With Reading train station just minutes away, staff and clients can travel easily and Blue Array’s remote team, who are based as far afield as Liverpool and Manchester, enjoy easy access to the office for team meets too.

Simon concludes: “Reading is a hub in the UK, and being here at The Blade really reflects what we’re all about. I feel that any working space resonates with the way in which people in it conduct themselves – ultimately the people here are the real beating heart of the building. A great example is how The Blade’s team have supported and encouraged the Peregrine Falcons, who nest on the roof each spring. It shows we’re in a building where people care about this space and the wider environment. It strikes to the essence of this building – and we’re really pleased to be a part of it”.

Three members of the team deserve a special mention - Kevin, Alison and Joanna are incredible, and make for such a positive environment.

Each of them goes out of their way to help – whether by just dropping up a package which has been left for us at Reception or taking the time to offer a warm welcome each morning.
