Reverse Advent is Back!

Dec 5, 2024 | Blade News

A reverse advent calendar works simply; instead of receiving a gift, those taking part in donate a specified item each day. At the end of advent, all collected goods will be dropped off to local food banks in time for Christmas. Some of the items which our occupiers are collecting include tea, coffee, soup, biscuits, tinned meals and vegetables, and rice.

Here’s what we’re collecting and when!

You can bring in your donations in any order before 19th December. Just put them under the Christmas tree in reception and we will use them to make food parcels for those in need.

It’s very important to us to work closely with our local community, and given the current climate, more and more people in Reading are in need of our local food banks. In the past couple of years the festive food parcels which everyone at The Blade has collected have been impressive – last year we needed five trips to deliver everything!
